The Canyon View Coyote: January 2017

Dear Canyon View Families,

I hope that you all had a memorable winter break and a happy New Year! Seeing how excited our children were to be back at school last week was a great experience for the staff, and the sounds of children’s voices and laughter once again fill our hallways and classrooms.

Over the past two weeks, we have quickly bounced back into our day-to-day routines and it’s quite apparent that many of our students look forward to the structure and predictability of the school day. As we begin the second semester, we want to thank you for following our parking lot safety procedures:

· Students are not to be dropped off in the parking lot area unless accompanied by an adult.

· If using the drop off lane, students are only allowed to embark or disembark the vehicle from the first four spaces to the west of the crosswalk.

· The drop off lane is a “Kiss and Dismiss” area. Students should exit the cars quickly and independently and proceed to the courtyard. Our staff members are present to assist with this process.

· At the end of the day when picking up students, your child is only able to enter the vehicle from the first four spaces in the drop off/pick-up lane only. Students are not permitted to walk into the parking lot unless accompanied by an adult.

We thank you for helping us keep our children safe and setting a good example by following the procedures!

Kinder Show & Tell

We will be hosting our last Kinder Show & Tell on Monday, January 23at 2 PM. Parents who have an incoming kindergarten student(s) are invited to attend our final Show & Tell to learn more about the kindergarten programs offered at Canyon View. Please call 209-7702 to make your reservation.

Registration/Open Enrollment

As a reminder, registration for next school year is now open to neighborhood students. You may access the Online Registration link under the Parent tab at http://www.cfsd16.org/. If you need assistance, please contact our office staff at 209-7901. Thank you to those families who have already registered their child(ren). Student registrations determine our teacher to student ratio each year. We appreciate your efforts!

For our open enrollment families, the open enrollment period ends on January 31, 2017. All open enrollment families must re-apply each year. Online applications can be accessed under the Parent tab at http://www.cfsd16.org/. After a student has been approved for open enrollment, the family may then proceed to register for the 2017-2018 school year. The Canyon View office staff will process open enrollment registration once the district office communicates the student has been accepted for the 2017-2018 school year.
