Dear Canyon View Families,
The
last two weeks have certainly been eventful here at Canyon View as we wrapped
up our annual science fair, our third grade students finished creating their
South American rainforest masks with artist-in-resident Kate Hodges, and we
completed two of our open houses for prospective open enrollment and
kindergarten families. I want to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who
committed their time to assist with these events. We could not have done it without each of you!
With
that being said, with the completion of one event or program the start of a new
round of enrichment opportunities for our students is just around the
corner. Please be sure to visit
the CV blog to stay up-to-date with all the happenings around campus, and we
encourage each of you to look for ways to become involved! Our students will directly benefit from
any amount of time you can commit to supporting our school, and we appreciate
and need your support!
Science Fair
This week, Canyon View hosted
our annual school-wide science fair.
We had 19 young scientists submit projects this year, and 15 of these
projects will be moving on to the Southern Arizona Research, Science and
Engineering Foundation (SARSEF) competition. Additionally, each of our fifth
grade students submitted a science fair project for their own grade level
competition. The inquiry, investigation, problem solving, experimentation and
analysis that went into each science fair project directly support our vision
for learning, and we were quite impressed with the effort and perseverance our
students demonstrated throughout this learning experience! A special thank you goes out to Raj
Subramaniam for dedicating his time to support our school-wide science
fair. We are sincerely grateful
for your leadership!
School Registration For Next Year
Online Registration for the
2016-2017 school year opens at 9:00am on February 16, 2016 for CFSD resident families. You will use Online
Registration to register your child(ren) for school. Your cooperation is
needed in order to complete the registration process for your child(ren). We
respectfully request that you complete the registration process as soon as
possible to ensure that the district has accurate enrollment numbers to plan
for the next school year.
On February 16th,
the link to Online Registration will be available in the ParentVUE portal
and through the Express Lane on the district and school websites.
This Thursday, two PDF documents
with instructions for completing the online registration process were emailed
to our families.
CURRENT OPEN ENROLLMENT
FAMILIES
Annually, Open Enrollment is a
three-step process for every Open Enrollment student:
(1) Open Enrollment Application - Completed online by
parents during the Open Enrollment Application period (Dec. 1 - Feb 29).
(2) Notification from Superintendent - This will arrive by
U.S. Mail in March (no later than April 1) to the mailing address provided on the
application. If your student is accepted, then the notification will
include instructions to complete registration using the new online registration
process (formerly paper documents), as well as how to provide additional
required registration documents (proof of residency, etc.).
(3) Student Registration - Registration is complete when a
parent/guardian completes the online registration process according to the
instructions provided by the Superintendent's Notification of Acceptance,
including delivery of all required registration documents to the school of
acceptance by the deadline noted on the notification of acceptance, AND the
school verifies completion of the online registration process.
Kinder Show & Tell/Open Houses/Tours
We will be hosting our final Kinder
Show & Tell on Monday, February 15
at 2:00 PM and our final Open Enrollment Open House on Monday, February 22 at 3:30 PM. If you know of any families who are interested in learning
more about what Canyon View has to offer their children, please pass this
important information along to them.
To RSVP for either the Kinder Show & Tell or the Open House, or to
schedule a small group/individual tour, please call 209-7701. As a reminder, current Open Enrollment
families must reapply each year between December
1st and February 29.
