Principal's Message 11/18/16

Dear Canyon View Families,

The first trimester has come to an end, and over the past two weeks our classroom teachers have been busy finalizing their first trimester grades and providing feedback on students’ report cards.  Today, parents will be able to view their child’s report card by logging into their ParentVUE account and clicking the Report Card section along the left side of their child’s homepage. Parents must have an active ParentVUE account in order to view/print their child’s report card.  If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card or need assistance with ParentVUE, please do not hesitate to contact the front office.

On Monday, December 5 and Monday, January 23 at 2:00PM, Canyon View will be hosting our two Kindergarten Show & Tells.  Parents who have incoming kindergarten students are invited to attend one of our Open Houses to learn more about the kindergarten programs offered at Canyon View.  Please call 209-7702 to make your reservation.

Additionally, Canyon View will be hosting our first two Open Houses for prospective Open Enrollment families on Monday, November 28 and Monday, December 19 at 2:30 PM.  Our third and final Open Enrollment Open House will be on January 18 at 8:30 AM.  If you know of any families who are interested in learning more about what Canyon View has to offer their children, please pass this important information along to them.  To RSVP for the Open Houses, or to schedule a small group/individual tour, please call 209-7702.  As a reminder, current Open Enrollment families must reapply each year between November 1st and January 31st.  Open Enrollment applications are available online at www.cfsd16.org.

Next, below are just a few images that capture the variety of learning experiences our students have been engaged in over the past two weeks.  The entire staff at Canyon View Elementary is deeply committed to the whole-child approach to educating our students, and we are routinely researching and exploring new ways to refine and improve our practice.

Finally, as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches next week, I want to thank all of our families for your continued support.  The home-school partnership is vital to our success as a learning organization, and it’s rewarding to know that we have such a strong and committed network of families who share in our vision for educating children.  On behalf of the Canyon View staff, thank you!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Principal's Message 11/4/16

Dear Canyon View Families,

October was a very exciting month for us at Canyon View and now it’s on to the second trimester!  We want to thank everyone for attending our annual Canyon Boo celebration and making this special event such an enjoyable experience for our children.  The costume parade on the 31st was another fun event for our students, and it was rewarding to see all of the teachers and parents having just as much fun as our children!  We also want to thank all of our students and parents for supporting this week’s Book Fair.  Students’ excitement for reading was contagious around campus, and we want to thank all of our committed volunteers who helped out!

On Friday, November 18th, parents will be able to view their child’s report card by logging into their ParentVUE account and clicking the Report Card section along the left side of their child’s homepage.  There are video tutorials on Canyon View'sYoutube Channel for your convenience to help you better understand your ParentVUE account.  You can access these video tutorials by visiting the new Canyon View homepage: http://cves.cfsd16.org/.  Parents must have an active ParentVUE account in order to view/print their child’s report card.  If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card or need assistance with ParentVUE, please do not hesitate to contact the front office.

Next, as mentioned in an email blast last week we want to ensure that parent-teacher conferences are meeting the needs of everyone involved.  We are asking our parents to please give us their feedback by completing a short survey.  As in years past, the information collected will be analyzed and used to improve our future parent-teacher conferences.  The anonymous survey will close on Sunday, November 6th at 12:00PM. Currently we have only 58 surveys submitted.  We sincerely appreciate and value your feedback!

Believe it or not, we are already preparing for next year.  The open enrollment window opened on November 1st and closes on January 31st, 2017.  The online open enrollment application is accessible on the district website, www.cfsd16.org, or by clicking here.  All open enrollment students need to apply for admission each year, so please do not wait.  School registration for next year will begin on December 5 for our neighborhood students. In-district parents and guardians will receive a link to register via the email listed on file for each student.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that under the leadership of our Student Advisory Board (SAB), Canyon View will once again participate in the Adopt-A-Family Project.  Last year, our school community positively influenced the lives of over 170 people during the holiday season.  We are deeply committed to this project, and we are looking forward to helping those in need.  Additional information will be sent out to our families in two weeks.

Have a wonderful weekend!
