Principal's message

Dear Canyon View Families,

Conference week is behind us and I hope that your conversations with your children’s teachers were informative.  Conference week is a valuable time for us each year as it is a way to coordinate our collective efforts to help educate our children and support the work that is taking place at school and at home.  As we all can agree, learning doesn’t stop when our children leave school, and we are committed to strengthening the school-home partnership.

In an effort to ensure that parent-teacher conferences are meeting the needs of everyone involved, we are asking parents to give us some feedback by completing a short survey.  Please use the link below to complete the survey.  If you have multiple children who attend Canyon View, we would appreciate it if you completed a separate survey for each child.  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NYN97KM

Over the next two weeks, we have three exciting events happening around campus beginning with tonight’s Canyon Boo!  This long-standing tradition kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and includes several fun and engaging activities ranging from trick-or-treating (6-8 p.m.), the Sonora Desert Museum's Spooky Animal Exhibit, and Mad Science.  We’ll see you there!

Next, on October 31st we will be having our annual Halloween Parade out on the North Field.  We will be starting the festivities promptly after morning announcements and students who are planning on dressing up should arrive at school dressed in their costumes.   When selecting a costume for your child/children, please be sure that it is appropriate for school.  Children are not permitted to wear face paint, bring dangerous items, or items that represent weapons or could be used in a way that could cause injury to other participants.  After our parade has concluded, all students will be expected to change back into their regular school attire.  We appreciate your support!

Finally, on November 12th we will be hosting CV’s Science Fair Kick-Off Night from 6-7 p.m. in the MPR.  This informational session will give students and parents insight regarding the scientific process and what it takes to create a quality science fair project.  Students who participate in this project-based learning will experience first-hand the excitement and sense of accomplishment that comes with completing a science experiment from start to finish, regardless of the end result.  Project-based learning is an effective way to spark students’ natural sense of curiosity, and the impact could last a lifetime!

Have a wonderful weekend!
