Student Safety Procedures
Morning Drop Off:
Please do not drop off student before 7:40 a.m., as supervision does not begin until this time.
• Morning drop-off line is west of the crosswalk. The first four cars are allowed to have their children unload. If you are further down the line, please patiently wait until you are in the first four drop-off spaces to allow your child to unload. We have several adults available each morning to assist children from their cars. Kiss and dismiss!
• Please do not drop your child off at the crosswalk in the parking lot and have him/her cross by him/herself. This is not safe, but it also makes the cars that have driven through the line wait as students cross the crosswalk.
Courtyard Pick Up and Drop Off:
• If you are dropping off or picking up your child in the courtyard, please park either in the in the Canyon View or Esperero Canyon Middle School parking lot and walk to the courtyard. All security gates will be opened in the morning at 7:30 a.m. and five minutes before the afternoon dismissal time.
Dismissal:
When students are dismissed, parents who wish to pick-up their child in the pick-up lane are expected to stay in the right lane and patiently wait until they reach one of our four loading spaces along the sidewalk. Over the past week, we have increased our efficiency in loading students into their cars, and we have reduced the pick-up time by 10 minutes.
Due to safety concerns, students will not be allowed to walk into the parking lot without an adult. The parking lot is filled with moving vehicles and we do not want any child to be in this environment.
Students should not be picked up in the neighborhood south of Canyon View (unless they are a resident). The increased traffic in the neighborhood can create an unsafe situation for our children.
